Jonathan Root and Bruce Bailey are Business
Development Managers at Dexter Axle and are
charged with finding opportunities to augment
the Company’s existing product lines. |
Hundreds of thousands of travel
trailers are hauled over the open road
every day and it’s a good bet that many
of the people towing their enjoyment
really appreciate what makes it all possible.
For years the folks at Dexter Axle
were quite content to make the best
axles available to many trailer markets,
but with a special emphasis on the RV
industry. It was just their nature to
produce quality axles for travel trailers,
fifth wheels, utility trailers, horse trailers
and just about anything else that had
the word trailer after something to be
towed.
Up until two and a half years ago the
company specialized in manufacturing
only brakes and axles, or running gear.
When the industry dipped and RV sales
dropped off, the company realized that it
was time to change the way they were
doing business and become more
aggressive in developing a plan of action
that would diversify their product offerings
and sustain them through other
market fluctuations that could impact
their axel and brake business.
Jon Root and Bruce Bailey are business
development managers who were
moved into these positions to look into
new opportunities that could augment
the existing product lines. Although
they looked at products that were outside
the businesses they currently serve,
they kept coming back to related products
that serve the same markets.
Jon Root explained, "We wanted to
stay one step ahead of the competition
and continue to be innovative with the
new products that we would ultimately
bring to market. It was very important
for us to diversity at this point in the
company’s history, and management
was fully supportive of these new initiatives."
