Dealers and other industry representatives heard top
executives from some of the leading companies in the RV business discuss the outlook for
the RV market during the RV Dealers International Convention/Expo on September 23 at the
Rio All-Suite Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV.
This special "Dealer's Choice" panel, with
participants selected through a survey of RV dealers, was sponsored by Deutsche Financial
Services/The DFS Advantage. The convention ran from September 23-25.
Scheduled to take part in the panel were:
Tom Faludy, President, Carefree of Colorado
A highly visible advocate for RV travel, Tom Faludy
serves as chairman of the Go RVing Coalition, vice chairman of the RVDA Education
Foundation, and on the RVIA board of directors and Executive Committee as secretary.
Faludy is one of the leading industry voices for market expansion and the potential for
aftermarket sales at RV dealerships.
Bruce Hertzke, Winnebago Industries, Chairman,
CEO, & President
As a steward of one of the most storied brand names in
the RV business, Bruce Hertzke is an informed and involved industry leader. He serves on
the board of directors and executive committee of RVIA as second vice chairman. Hertzke
also serves on the RVDA Education Foundation board of directors.
Terry Mullan, President, Glendale RV
A 30-year veteran of the RV industry, Terry Mullan is an
active member of the CRVA (Canadian RV Manufacturers Association) and has served on its
board of directors for 16 years. Mullan started as an engineer with the company and served
Glendale in a number of capacities before becoming president in 1988. Glendale RV is the
largest Canadian RV manufacturer and also has a number of U.S. dealers.
Jim Rogers, President & CEO, Kampgrounds of
America (KOA)
Since taking the reins at KOA in January 2000, Jim Rogers
has made a big impact on the RV industry. He serves on the board of directors of the
National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds and is active in the American Recreation
Coalition.
Thomas R. "Tim" McGuire, Chairman and
CEO, The Coast Distribution System
Now in his fourth decade of working in the RV industry,
Tim McGuire founded The Coast Distribution System in 1964. Coast is a major distributor of
accessories, replacement parts, and supplies for the RV industry.
Kay Toolson, Chairman & CEO, Monaco Coach
Corp.
Kay Toolson has engineered a rapid expansion in RV market
share at Monaco, where the family of well-known RV brands includes Holiday Rambler. The
company announced the purchase of SMC Corp. earlier this year. Toolson, has served as CEO
for Monaco since 1986 and as chairman since 1993.
