Hall of Fame Inductees Reflect on History and Heritage
|
It's difficult to get up in front of an audience and deliver a message that the audience will remember long after they have digested the evening meal and said goodbye to friends and business associates. Leff Moore (Hall of Fame Class of 1999) delighted the audience with a magnificent and entertaining presentation just prior to the induction ceremony this year. Moore is the Executive Director of the West Virginia Manufactured Housing Association. Leff told the audience, "I am honored, proud and humbled to be standing here tonight. I thought I'd be driving a Pepsi truck. Wow, my high school class would really be proud of me now!" This gave us an indication of the wit and wisdom that would be delivered in his speech, or talk. It would be up to the audience to figure out when he was giving the speech and when he was just talking. Either way, we were all sitting on the edge of our seats and listening to every word that came out of his mouth. This is what America is all about. Living a dream. Contributing to society. Making an impact. Respecting the heritage of an industry that allowed you to do it all, and have fun doing it. Leff keeps life's scorecard with bells. He said, "If you do something good, you ring the ding. If you do something real good, it's a boing! Life is not all boing's -- it made up of a lot of dings." |
