Newmar Dutch Star 1999 I took delivery in March of 99. Ever since it has been a living hell. This unit has Toxic Levels of Formaldehyde Gas all the glues, plywood, fabrics and leather. Factory tells me to boil potatoes on the stove to get rid of the smell. I am currently suing Newmar to give me my money back. I have spent $5,000 having the air inside the unit tested to determine what was making my family and I sick. All my research points to this being the dirty little secret of the RV Industry. Any one experiencing any adverse health effects should have the air tested. It is a lot cheaper if you already know what chemical you are looking for. If I may be of help Please Email Me Marc Crawford Holiday Rambler Endeavor gas 36-ft My Wife and I purchased our 1st RV this yr from Collier RV Center in Rockford IL. It was a very big purchase for us and Bob Ewald not only met the price range we felt we wanted to be in but he made the whole process of buying it very simple and painless although there were some problems with the service dept I found that being up front and honest with them about how they handled my service that straightened out rather quickly we are very happy with this unit ant the RV center Ii only wish it was a bit closer 178 miles one way for service it is a full day even for minor repairs its sad because we have a HR dealer 3 miles from our house and these people will not even order me a part because I bought elsewhere - Oh well, their loss not mine Tom Schulz Rexhall Rose Air 3550BSL This is an update on my original entry. I purchased this unit early in the year, accepting delivery from Lancaster RV, the dealer nearest the factory. They did the Pre Delivery Inspection and although not the selling dealer still did an excellent job. One of the complaints I have about Class A RVs is the lack of sufficient 110v lighting , , , most units have good fluorescent lighting, and 12volt lighting. However this type of lighting is just not good for reading, and extended living. I had an Alpenlite fifth-wheel prior to this and the factory had residential lighting installed. To remedy this I installed Residential type lighting in the Bedroom, bathroom, and living room. I added dimmers to dim the wall sconces I installed in the living room, bedroom, and dining area. To make the coach more livable I installed the following items: Central vac, Wall mounted Hair dryer, Automatic Satellite Antenna, Yamaha Surround sound system, Stereo TV, RV Alarm System, Solar Panels, Residential Lighting, Bathroom ceramic tile, and many more items. I must say that to date I have had absolutely no problem with the exception of a minor roof leak which was my fault due to not adequately sealing the Satellite Antenna. I find I get around 8 mph towing a 95 Mustang. The unit is very drivable with minimum sway and buffeting. I have around 100 hours on the Generator 7KW Generac, with no problems. The construction quality is excellent for a gas RV. I have had a number of RVers look at this unit and their comments are always, This is one of the nicest RVs Ive ever seen. I think this is due to Rexhalls excellent floor plan, I have the bedroom and living room slideouts. The interior is a red oak, the dealer will tell you rosewood(sounds good) but it is red oak. The cabinet faces are wood and the rest is vinyl wrapped. Middle quality, but it looks like a 200K+ Coach. I also added accent light under the window valances, which by the way are true four sided valances. Overall at this point I cant say how Rexhall will handle warranty work, as I have had no problems. One blown fuse on the entry steps, and an adjustment on the leveling system when I picked up the Coach. The Rexhall RVs are very highly rated by the RV Consumer group. My RV was used by the Presto-fit Corporation in their new Advertisements, in exchange for some of their products. I saw an ad with my RV in the current Issue of Motor Home Magazine. ( Aug.99 Page 130.) Rexhall certainly seems to have overcome the problems with quality control when their product were Manufactured in the Midwest. I toured the Rexhall factory prior to purchasing this product and observed that all Units go through an extensive quality check prior to going to the shipping lot. David Michel Georgie Boy Landau We purchased this motor home in April of this year. It is 35 ft long mounted on the Ford chassis with the V10 engine and slideout unit. The motor home has plenty of power for passing and on hills. It is very smooth on the highway and at 60-65 it is very quiet. I have had no major problems. I just received a recall from Ford last week on the cruise control cable. When I first got the rig I spent about eight hours fixing little things like draws that would keep opening, a thermostat that was mounted with just one screw instead of two, adjusted the striker on two of the outside compartments so doors would stay closed. I would have to say that the rig is pretty well made and for the its size it is very quiet. We are very pleased with it so far. The only time I dont like to drive it is in windy conditions because it seems to want to wander a little bit. There are no problems when the eighteen-wheelers pass me. I think anyone who is interested in a motor home should look at these. The Ford engine and chassis are well made and Georgie Boy doesnt seem to skimp on the quality of their motorhomes. George Gettman Winnebago Vectra My Wife and I bought this MH from RV SuperCenter at their summer sale in Hillsboro Oregon. The coach has every thing that a luxury coach should have. However, RV SuperCenter flat out lied to us. When we picked up the coach there was absolutely no documentation books, packet or other information in the coach. The service manager, and the salesman told us the would find the documentation, or get new documentation from Winnebago and mail it to us. This has never happened. While the Salesman (Barry) was courting us, we were Mr.& Mrs, Sir & Maam and so on. As soon as I handed them a check for the MH, they were thru with us. My repeated calls, and fax to their Customer Service dept, for documentation go unanswered. The coach in question in a 94 Winnebago Vectra 35 diesel pusher with an Allison MD3060 trans. I contacted Winnebago to get some data on the coach, their statement was contact the dealer and order a manual, we dont have time to deal with this. Heed my warning, DO NOT DEAL WITH RV SUPERCENTER. You are a check not a customer. Further, consider your RV choices, carefully, If considering Winnebago put them low on your list. Youd think that they would be looking for repeat business. We Like the Vectra and all its amenities. I like the mileage of the Cummins, about 15, to the gallon. Ill update this scathing review as the situation warrants. But at this point, I dont hold out much hope. Duane E. Dingman Monaco, Windsor We picked up our 1999 Monaco Windsor on April 3, 1999. We drove the motorhome back to Illinois to load up and take a shakedown trip. Our trip took us through 15 states in the west and back to Illinois. When we returned from the trip we had 12 items, which we needed to have corrected. They were minor in nature except for one, which we knew about when we picked up the coach. The 330 turbos Cummins diesel engine is a superb engine. We had no trouble navigating steep grades in states like Arizona, Nevada and Wyoming. The Windsor is comfortable to drive and there is no noticeable rocking when trucks go by. We now have a total of 10,000 miles on the vehicle and are ready to go again. I took the motorhome back to Buddy Gregg in Knoxville to correct those 12 items. The major item was repainting of one side because the slide was not aligned properly at the factory and when they painted that side the paint stripping was off when the slide was adjusted. They had the coach for about three weeks and they did a beautiful job of repainting that side. When I picked the coach up everything was done, they had totally cleaned and waxed the coach. The inside though not dirty was totally gone over. I cant say enough good things about the Buddy Gregg organization. They are in every respect a Class organization. I truly believe that if you want the best in purchasing and service they are the ones to go to. Bill Ruck |
