America Launches "New Products" e-Commerce Web Site RV America On Line® has introduced a new Internet service for suppliers and warehouse distributors to help launch new products and market test the viability of new products. The new service is America's RV Store and is being integrated into RV America On Line. RVers will be able buy the products on line and have the products shipped directly to their homes. According to Dan Holt, CEO, Web Site Management, Inc., "America's RV Store is designed specifically for distributors and new suppliers to the industry. It offers them the opportunity to accomplish two important functions introduce new products and move out over-stocked and discontinued products." America's RV Store will sell only new products, or products not currently available to RV Dealers through RV industry warehouse distributors. "We see this as a great service to both new suppliers, who often have difficulty breaking into the market and setting up distribution, and distributors who will be able to test market new products before making a stocking commitment." Holt added. Introducing New Products Holt said, "Every distributor knows how difficult, time consuming and expensive it is to introduce new products to dealers. And once dealers have product, it takes even longer before they can introduce and sell them to consumers. It's very costly to establish a market for new products, and all the time the distributors money is tied up in inventory that moves slowly." "For distributors, America's RV Store will accept new products from legitimate distributors. And, only one distributor will be the source of supply on any given product. So, the distributor that offers us the product(s) first will be America's RV Store's single source of supply. "And for new suppliers trying to break into the RV market, it often takes years before they get their products into dealers' stores," Holt said. "With America's RV Store, they will be able to test market the product and then go to distributors with a track record." America's RV Store will be a virtual store and only sell products through the Internet. Holt continued, "It's important for everyone to know that our goal is not to become another Camping World or a warehouse distributor. As soon as any of the products are available to dealers, we will stop selling the product. We have absolutely no interest in being in competition with RV dealers and selling against them. We see this as a partnership between suppliers, distributors and dealers where each can benefit from this service. And the revenues earned through the e-commerce program will be used to a large degree in investing back into Web Site Management so we can provide better service to those companies whose web sites we host. That not only helps drive traffic to all the sites on RV America, it also allows us to keep our costs down so we can keep our hosting rates competitive." Web Site Management's (RV America On Line) primary customers are RV dealers and parts and accessory retailers. Because of this, America's RV Stores will not compete with these customers. "Therefore," Holt said, "we are only willing to introduce new products for a limited time." Holt believes new products will be available on America's RV Store from about 90 to 120 days. By then, the products should be in distribution and available through traditional RV parts and accessory stores. RV America is generating in excess of 2.5 million hits a month and draws an audience of about 100,000 unique visitors each month so there is potentially a vast audience for new products. These visitors are gathering information about the industry and its products. They have money to spend and they are more than willing to purchase aftermarket products through the Internet. Over-Stocked And Discontinued Products Holt said, "On occasion distributors may have excess inventory of outdated RV products, or maybe items that they sell to markets outside the RV industry - perhaps the marine industry - that may be of interest to many RVers. America's RV Store may be just the right place for them to move out old inventory, or to get rid of products that their RV dealers are not handling. We are not interested in handling distressed items." All-in-all, America's RV Store adds a new and cost-effective way of introducing new products to a qualified RVing audience. It's not only an excellent way to conduct market research prior to a full product launch, it will allow RV dealers to have access to new profitable items in a shorter period of time.
