National RV Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: NVH) announced that it has negotiated the sale of its National RV travel trailer business assets to Weekend Warrior, a privately owned, California-based ramp trailer manufacturer. Warrior has created a new company called Rage'n, Inc., through which it plans to manufacture and market the acquired National RV brands. The sale is designed to allow National RV to further concentrate its efforts and resources on its growing motorhome business.
Brad Albrechtsen, CEO of National RV, stated, “With increasing demand for Class A motorhome products, we have decided that we could better serve our shareholders, as well as our motorhome dealers and customers, by focusing all of our attention and resources on our motorhome business where margins are better”. Commenting on the deal with Warrior, Albrechtsen continued, “We are very pleased that we were able to reach an agreement on our toy-hauler business with the company that virtually invented that business. We believe that Warrior is the perfect company to take over our brands and further enhance their value for the customers and dealers. Once we decided it was in the best interest of our shareholders to focus all of our resources on motorhomes, our main concern was in finding someone who could preserve the brand value for our dealers and owners -- and we feel that we accomplished that,” concluded Albrechtsen.
National RV announced that the sale was effective immediately, but went on to state that it will continue to service and fulfill the original warranty obligations of the travel trailer products currently on the road. Sales of trailers have represented less than 5% of revenues for National RV Holdings. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Carriage, Inc. has announced the implementation of a new RV dealer advisory council comprised of six Carriage dealers.

FRVTA Board Establishes Hurricane Assistance Fund
The Florida RV Trade Association’s (FRVTA) Board of Directors, during a conference call held on September 17, 2004, voted to establish a hurricane assistance fund to help those FRVTA members and employees that suffered damage due to the high number of hurricanes that have hit the state.
A fund of $20,000 was established and will be distributed based upon a number of criteria:
- Any employee of a member business (or the member) may request assistance by writing to the President of the region.
- The President will verify with the owner as to the circumstances and then will forward the request to the State Office.
- The Executive Committee will approve /disapprove the request.
- If approved, a check will be forwarded immediately.
- The maximum amount will be $500.00, unless the Executive Committee votes to change the amount.
In addition to the Hurricane Assistance Fund, the FRVTA Board of Directors also voted to make a contribution to both the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army in the amount of $5,000.00 each to be earmarked for Florida disaster relief.
“We felt with the high number of hurricanes that have hit Florida and the cancellation of the FRVTA State Convention, we could use those funds to assist our members and their employees impacted by these storms,” said FRVTA President Scott Schmidt.

Park Cabins, Inc. Gears Up
for Expansion
The Cairo, Ga.-based park model manufacturer plans to double its workforce
>Park Cabins, Inc. plans to move into a larger facility later this year and double its workforce by the middle of 2005, thanks to rising demand for recreational park trailers or “park models.”
“We can’t build them fast enough in our existing space,” Park Cabins President Mike Fannon said of the affordable 400-square foot cabin-style cottages, which consumers are increasingly using as vacation homes. “We basically had to slow down because we didn’t have the space to keep up with customer demand.”
But Park Cabins’ pace of production will change later this year, when the Cairo-based company relocates from its current 12,000-square foot facility at 460 4th Street SE to a 40,000-square foot plant in the Industrial Park of Cairo. The move will enable the company to double its workforce to 40 or 50 employees, while doubling or tripling its park model production, Fannon said.
Park Cabins’ growth reflects rising consumer interest in park model products across the country. National shipments of recreational park trailers were up 27.5% during the first six months of 2004, compared to a year earlier, setting an all time industry record, according to the Recreational Park Trailer Industry Association (RPTIA) in Newnan, Ga.
“We’ve never seen demand like this before. It’s unprecedented,” said William Garpow, RPTIA’s executive director. “Virtually every park trailer manufacturer is reporting record orders and backlogs, and there’s no letup in sight.”
