Goodbye Harrisburg

The big news at the Harrisburg Show was the Hershey Show, for that’s what it will be when America’s Largest RV Show returns to Pennsylvania for their 38th Annual RV & Camping Show next September. The change in venue from the State Farm Complex to the Hersheypark Sports & Entertainment Complex was approved by the PRVCA when they could not come to terms over increased exhibitor costs associated with the newly expanded facilities in Harrisburg. Through the years, flooding of the outside area had also presented some challenging situations for many of the exhibitors.

Becky Lenington, Executive Vice President of PRVCA, said, “It was time to change. The show is very big now and we wanted a new venue that would allow us to continue to grow the show and provide more services and opportunities to our exhibitors. charges we were facing at the State Farm Complex just didn’t make sense to our association or the show committee.

We have signed a five-year contract with Hersheypark and the deal is done.”

Park Model Exhibit had a significant increase in space
and attendance at this year’s Harrisburg Show.

Perhaps the most noticeable part of the new deal will be the new show dates. Manufacturer and supplier personnel will no longer have to give up their Labor Day weekend celebrations and festivities to hunker down in Harrisburg. The show dates in 2005 are September 12th and 13th for trade days, and the five public days will be September 14th through 18th. This is the week after Labor Day.
