Modern day Partridge Family takes to the roads ....

Columbus, OH - Classical music duo, TwiceOne, has partnered with Creative Mobile Interiors (CMI), a custom interior vehicle builder headquartered in Grove City, Ohio, to create their dream one-of-a-kind home on wheels. The bus, a MCI E4500, is the family of four’s full time living quarters while the husband and wife team, Steve and Vicki Sowinski, travel around the country performing classical music.

The coach not only serves as home for the family, but also as a studio for the two musicians and an office for Vicki. “We needed something that would function as a home, office and studio. I was nervous. We had to work alot of things into a small space, but working with the team of engineers at CMI we did it. Their attention to detail was what was most special. It is absolutely beautiful. We are so pleased, it looks like the inside of a house,” Steve said.

Each family member’s needs were considered. The mother, an accomplished pianist, required an acoustic electronic keyboard onboard to fine tune her skills. The keyboard can be heard both inside and outside of the bus through the main lounge entertainment system. In the evening, her online office becomes a private bedroom complete with an automated couch that reclines into a bed. The daughter’s bedroom also includes an automated couch; complete entertainment system including a Sony 23" LCD; and a desk equipped with online satellite connection capabilities.

Their son has cubby-hole-like bunk beds - one for him and one for any friends spending the night - with curtains for privacy. The boy likes sleeping in the lower bunk because he thinks it’s “like being a mole”. He even has a customized hot wheels case accented with LED lighting built into one of the walls to display his collection of hot wheels. The father, trumpet player of the duo, enjoys cooking and has a fully functional kitchen with a built in four-burner glass stovetop oven, sub-zero refrigerator, dishwasher, and built-in convection microwave oven.

Other details on the bus, dubbed Clifford the Big Red Bus, include a custom fabricated ceiling to mimic the bell of a trumpet, awning hardware to match the red exterior color, and a vessel style sink with waterfall faucet in the bathroom. They even have custom lawn chairs that are embroidered with the name of the bus, Clifford, and the duo’s name, TwiceOne.

The coach is equipped with an array of high tech amenities including an in-dash stereo/DVD/ navigation system with both flip out and passenger-mounted monitors. Also, built in, is a custom designed entertainment cabinet that features a 37” TV, X-box and media storage compartment that slides out of view when not in use. And the powerful 5.1 surround sound is controlled via the Denon A/V Diamond audio component speakers.

The bus even includes a video surveillance/intercom system with a camera located inside the doorbell. This way, when someone approaches the entrance door, the Sowinskis can see who it is and speak with the visitor via the intercom system. There is even a 32” TV in the under floor so the family can watch TV while sitting outside on their custom lawn chairs. And to help deal with the every day cleaning, a Beam central vacuum system, a flip out ironing board, and a Majestic washer and dryer have been installed.

The couple wants to preserve the closeness of their tight-knit family while traveling. “We want to reach as many people as we can while letting the children experience the country,” said Steve, “and we’ve accomplished this with our home on wheels. We feel so fortunate to be able to do it.” The family plans on living most of the year in Florida and spending the summers traveling.
