With High-speed Mobile Internet Access and a Pair of Satellite TV Antennas for HDTV and Network Programming, Sportscaster Stays Entertained and Prepared for Weekly NFL Commentary

John Madden Takes KVH TracVision R6 and TracNet 100 for a Ride on New Madden Cruiser

MIDDLETOWN, RI – NFL broadcaster John Madden travels more than 100,000 miles per year in his famous "Madden Cruiser". Having avoided planes since 1979, the world-famous sportscaster chooses instead to crisscross the country in the customized motorcoach that is well-stocked with all the amenities of home, including satellite TV. Now, as he prepares for the NFL season in his brand-new motorcoach delivered just in time for the first regular season game, Madden has taken his satellite TV technology to a new level, choosing to install not one, but two, TracVision® R6 satellite TV antennas from KVH Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: KVHI).

In addition, the Madden Cruiser has the first production model of KVH's new TracNet™ 100 mobile Internet system with MSN® TV service as well as KVH's TracPhone® 252 satellite communications system. With the combination of the two TracVision antennas and high-speed Internet access while on the move, Madden and his fellow travelers are able to watch their choice of high-definition programming in one area of the coach, local or DIRECTV broadcasts on the other TVs in the vehicle, and surf the web at their leisure while en route to next weekend's game.

Madden clocks over 50 hours per week in his motorcoach, preparing for upcoming games and using the vehicle as a portable office. The TracVision R6 provides Madden with real-time coverage of news, weather, and HDTV programming as he prepares for his Sunday Night Football commentary this fall on NBC. At the same time, TracNet 100 offers two-way, high-speed mobile access to the Internet both through the MSN TV service and the Madden Cruiser's TV screens as well as via the integrated WiFi hub.

No wonder: MCI's E4500 conversion coach, Superior Coach's interior design, and KVH's TracVision R6 satellite antennas bring the highest quality picture available to the Madden Cruiser. To ensure that the all-digital satellite TV picture gets the right treatment, the Madden Cruiser is also equipped with three high-definition plasma televisions. Live mobile entertainment, Internet access, and satellite telephone and fax service are provided by:

  • The KVH TracVision R6 mobile satellite TV system – The in-motion TracVision R6 includes such innovations as a compact 12" high design, KVH's DewShield™ electronic dew elimination technology (patent pending), on-screen messaging and diagnostics, and the option of either an integrated 12V receiver for DIRECTV service or a multi-service interface box for home receiver use.
  • The KVH TracNet 100 mobile Internet system with MSN TV service – Using high-speed EVDO cellular data services, TracNet 100 provides in-motion, high-speed access to MSN TV Internet services, including MSN Mail, MSN Messenger, web browsing, Internet radio, online games, and more, all conveniently displayed on the TVs in the Madden Cruiser. For passengers who depend on their laptops or PDAs, the TracNet 100 also turns the Madden Cruiser into a mobile hotspot thanks to integrated WiFi that supports multiple users and devices.
  • The KVH TracPhone 252 – TracPhone 252 offers crystal-clear, in-motion access to the Inmarsat mini-M network, the world's most widely used satellite telephone and fax communications system. The TracPhone 252 offers a single-cable, self-contained design and allows you to simultaneously connect to a telephone, fax machine, and computer, offering the versatility of an in-motion total communications center.
