Go RVing has named a
prominent manufacturing executive
and a prominent RV dealer
as co-chairmen of the Go
RVing Coalition, in a move
reflecting the successful partnership
of manufacturers and
dealers to expand the RV market
through the industrywide
Go RVing advertising campaign.
The new co-chairmen are Don
Walter, president and CEO of
Starcraft RV, Inc. (Topeka, IN)
and Tom Stinnett, president of

Faludy, formerly president
of RV supplier company
Carefree of Colorado, resigned
as Go RVing Coalition chairman
upon being promoted to a new
position with Carefree’s parent,
Scott Fetzer Company
(Cleveland, OH). He had served
as coalition chairman since its
formation by representatives of
Recreation Vehicle Industry
Association (RVIA), Recreation
Vehicle Dealers Association
(RVDA), National Association of
RV Parks and Campgrounds
(ARVC) and leading state RV
associations in 1994.
The officers of Go RVing,
Inc. – RVIA President David J.
Humphreys and RVDA
President Mike Molino – issued
a joint statement praising
Walter and Stinnett as ideal
choices for co-chairmen.
"Don Walter and Tom
Stinnett each bring special
insights and influence to the
coalition as respected professionals
in their segments of the
RV industry. They promise to
be a highly effective team as Go
RVing continues to reach out to
new buyers through national
advertising and local dealer tiein
programs," they said.
A 31-year industry veteran,
Don Walter has a long and
distinguished record as a champion
of market expansion. He
has served on the Go RVing
Coalition since its inception in
1994, has chaired the coalition's
Measurement and Goals
Committee since 2002 and
served on the creative subcommittee
responsible for finalizing
the popular "Pursue Your
Passions" ads now running.
Walter also has more than 20
years’ experience as a member
of the RVIA Public Relations
Committee. As co-chairman of
the RV Indiana Committee of
the Indiana Manufactured
Housing Association in 1979, he
advocated a regional advertising
campaign supported by dealers
and manufacturers to target
prospective RV buyers, foreshadowing
the national campaign
now conducted by Go
RVing.
Walter joined the RV industry
in 1973 after earning his
undergraduate and graduate
degrees from Miami University
in Oxford, Ohio. He began his
RV career in a variety of sales
positions, most with Coachmen
Industries, including vice president
of sales and marketing for
Coachmen's Shasta division.
Before becoming president and
CEO of Starcraft RV in 1991,
Walter served as president of
Holiday Rambler Corporation’s
RV Division. Walter and his
wife Cidney have lived in the
Elkhart, Indiana area for 30
years and have three children.
"Bringing the industry
together to work for market
expansion has been a career
goal of mine, and the Go RVing
Coalition has fulfilled that
dream," said Walter. "I’m an
unabashed supporter of our
campaign’s continued growth,
and I am honored to be chosen
to steer our efforts, working
closely with Tom Stinnett and
all the dedicated members of
the coalition."
Stinnett has also been
engaged in Go RVing from the
very beginning. One of the
most ardent advocates of the
movement, he has been an
effective consensus builder
among dealers and manufacturers.
Together with Walter and
the rest of the coalition, he
helped to guide the agency
selection process which resulted
in the hiring of The Richards
Group to create the current
"Pursue Your Passions" ads. He
too served on the creative subcommittee
that approved these
ads in final form.
Stinnett has played a leadership
role in the development of
the tie-in program for dealers,
campgrounds, show promoters
and their agencies, making consumer
leads and advertising
resources available to Go RVing
participants nationwide.
A former chairman of the
board of RVDA, a current member
of its board and the 2003
recipient of its top honor, the
James B. Summers Award,
Stinnett also serves as chairman
of the RVDA Market
Expansion Committee. He has
been an RV dealer since 1978,
and lives with his wife Carolyn
in Louisville, KY.
"I am honored to be chosen
co-chairman of the Go RVing
Coalition alongside my industry
colleague Don Walter," said
Stinnett. "I am committed to
continued improvement of our
highly successful Go RVing programs
and intend to challenge
all coalition members to work
toward that goal. I’m sure Don
will agree that we have some
extraordinary shoes to fill with
the departure of our first chairman,
Tom Faludy, and we want
to thank him for the commitment,
foresight, wisdom and
determination that made Go
RVing the huge success it is
today."
"Tom Faludy has been a
unifying force in the RV industry,"
added Molino and
Humphreys in their joint statement.
"Don Walter and Tom
Stinnett are extremely well-suited
to continue to inspire and
strengthen us."
Walter and Stinnett were
appointed coalition co-chairmen
with Faludy’s endorsement by
the presidents of RVIA and
RVDA, who serve as directors
and officers of Go RVing, and
their association chairmen:
Claire Skinner, chairman of the
board and CEO of Coachmen
Industries (Elkhart, IN), and
Marty Shea, owner of Madison
RV Center (Huntsville, AL).
"Individually, both Don
Walter and Tom Stinnett are
superbly qualified for the post of
coalition chairman, but together,
they reflect the very unity
and dynamics that are the foundation
of our success," said
Faludy.
Now in its third three-year
phase, the Go RVing campaign
has been widely regarded as an
influential factor in the growing
popularity of RV travel and
strong industry sales, which are
forecasted to reach their second-
highest level in 25 years in
2004, according to University of
Michigan researcher Dr. Richard
Curtin.
The Go RVing Coalition consists
of RV manufacturers, component
suppliers, dealers and
campgrounds. Go RVing works
to provide the public and media
with pertinent information
about the benefits of RV travel
and to foster satisfaction with
the RV experience through customer
research conducted by its
Committee on Excellence. RVN
