Catching up with technology?

Automated Engineering has been waiting for you

By Bob Zagami, Editor

David and Mariann Bailey

What does a company do when they have excellent products that meet the needs of RV manufacturers, but they can’t seem to get them to buy into their sales presentation?

Well if you are Automated Engineering Corporation, you simply acknowledge that you may be slightly ahead of your time and look for alternative markets until the RV industry is ready to accept technology as a major ingredient of their future success.

AEC was building light dimmers, panel meters, volt meters, and temperature controls for the RV industry in 1986. The company wanted to move forward with new control boards and introduce some of the sophisticated electronic assembly methodology and product performance that was already mainstream in the automotive industry, but the RV industry wasn’t quite ready.

David Bailey, president, turned his attention to contract engineering for many different industries and continued to develop sophisticated electronic monitoring systems that would eventually find their way back into the RV industry in 2003.

David is a brilliant engineer with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and a M.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University. His engineering career began at Motorola in 1976 where he was responsible for the design, development, system design and application design of microprocessor and custom IC based communications systems. David holds thirteen U.S. Patents, and has two more pending. One of those is a Towed Vehicle Brake Controller.

He was a partner in Automated Engineering Consultants in Tampa, FL from 1986-88, where he provided consulting and design services and also provided in-house research and development of high efficiency DC operated controls and instrumentation.

When they could not advance new technology in the RV industry, he joined a medical products company. While at In Care Medical Products, serving as the Director of Development Engineering, he was responsible for managing new product research and development and the production facility operations. David was one of the original founders of the original Hot/Ice® Company in 1982 and the inventor of the patents covering this product.

Recognizing a need for high quality contract engineering services, he launched Automated Engineering Corporation in 1990. The company is a full service electronic engineering and manufacturing organization that performs; research, feasibility analysis, development, design, documentation, prototyping, and production.
