Holiday RV Superstores Announces
Management Changes
Holiday RV Superstores, Inc. (NADSAQ: RVEE)
recently appointed Ronald G. Huneycutt (56) as president and chief executive officer and
Gary Rodney (50) Chief Financial Officer. The
company said the two appointments reflect Holiday RV's desire to utilize the management
leadership of Atlas Recreational Holdings which acquired Holiday RV in July 1999.
Huneycutt replaces W. Hardee McAlhaney, who will remain with the company as assistant to
the chairman. Rodney replaces Patrick McNair, who resigned to pursue other interests.
The company also announced that Marco A. Martinez has
been named assistant to the president and director of e-commerce.
In announcing the appointments, Michael Riley, chairman
of Holiday RV Superstores, said, "Since our acquisition of Holiday RV in July 1999,
our goal has been to take advantage of the fragmented RV and boat dealership market, to
become the leading consolidator in this industry and to utilize the senior management
talents of Atlas Recreational. The appointments of Ron Huneycutt and Gary Rodney were made
primarily to accelerate these goals. The appointment of former Atlas Recreational chief
financial officer, Ron Huneycutt, allows us to take advantage of his significant expertise
in the very specialized acquisition process. Gary Rodney brings to Holiday RV an executive
with exceptional experience in developing and implementing company growth strategies. We
believe the addition of these executives will allow us to accelerate our strategic goals."
Georgie Boy Expands Diesel Production,
Opens Plant in Elkhart
Georgie Boy Manufacturing, Inc., will expand
production of diesel-powered motorhomes by opening a plant in Elkhart, IN. Georgie Boy's
Elkhart operations will be named Georgie Boy Manufacturing Diesel, Inc. (GBMD). In early
spring the first units should be rolling off the Elkhart assembly line.
Fred Emmert, president of Georgie Boy, said, "This
new plant will allow us a much-needed increase in diesel pusher production capacity. It
will enable us to better penetrate the increasingly important diesel motorhome
market."
According to Emmert, Georgie Boy has been unable to focus
efforts on the diesel market because its production facilities in Edwardsburg, MI, are
literally running at capacity with demand for its gas-powered motorhomes. "We were
'facility-constrained' and now we will be able to resume our growth track," Emmert
said.
Claire C. Skinner, chairman of the board and CEO of
Coachmen Industries, Inc., said, "Coachmen's strategic plan is to focus our assets on
our core businesses and growth opportunities. With the rear diesel portion of the
motorhome market representing such an important segment, the timing is right for Georgie
Boy to add more production capacity."
Throughout the months of March and April GBMD will be
setting up the Elkhart facility for production. Roughly 30 employees from the Edwardsburg
plant will staff the Elkhart production facilities. Up to 70 additional new employees will
eventually be hired.
Jayco to Enter Class A Market
Jayco, Inc., intends to expand its product offerings
with the addition of Class A motorhomes to its product lines, according to Bernard G.
Lambright, president. Lambright said that current plans call for Jayco to introduce
"one or more lines of full-sized conventional motorhomes as early as this calendar
year."
Lambright added the company's decision came as a result
of a comprehensive analysis of Jayco's position in the RV market. He said, "Our
dramatic growth in recent years has positioned Jayco as a major player in the RV
marketplace. We now believe that adding Class A motorhomes to our product lineup will take
us to the next level in the company's development."
Jayco plans to set up a national council of prominent motorhome dealers to assist
the Company in product development, according to Lambright. He said, "We have had
extensive input from many dealers and customers. As a result of this and other research,
we plan to concentrate our product efforts, at least initially, in the popularly-priced
segments of the motorhome market."
Jayco plans to build the new Class A motorhome products
at a recently acquired 40-acre facility north of Middlebury, IN.
