The
Sea Hawk towable division of Gulf Stream Coach, Inc.,
located in Nappanee, IN, and featuring a line-up of
aluminum-framed, vacuum-bond laminated fifth wheels and
travel trailers, continues to experience unprecedented
growth. Tim Hoffman, Sea Hawk national sales manager,
reports that in 1996 the Sea Hawk division experienced an
increase in sales and shipments of over 200%! This
dramatic increase made it necessary to expand the current
production facility which was completed this past
December, as well as double the sales staff.
Hoffman states
that the Sea Hawk's popularity continues to grow at a
rapid pace and the market share gains are being reported
throughout the country. The Sea Hawk's popularity,
contends Hoffman, is enhanced by the aluminum-frame
construction, vacuum bond laminated floors and sidewalls,
a unique thermal-bond barrier in the sidewalls, and the
fact that the underbelly of the Sea Hawk is completely
enclosed and heated for all-weather camping. Utilizing an
aggressive quality control program modeled after the
"Big 3" automakers, Gulf Stream has seen
tremendous results both in terms of an increased dealer
base and sales. One of the attractions for dealers,
according to Hoffman, is the fact that the Sea Hawk fifth
wheel has a travel trailer to complement it providing the
dealer with a broader market base - something that has
become a rarity in the laminated fifth wheel market
segment.
As Sea Hawk
prepares for its 1998 product introduction in July of
this year, Hoffman states that dealers should be
extremely pleased with some of the things that will be
available, including:
A new profile on the 5th wheels,
allowing up to 6" additional headroom and
"stand-up" slide-out rooms
Two new bay window models
Full pass-through storage
compartments
A 63-gallon fresh water tank
Increased overall R-value to an
