Life on Wheels Conference Extension Programs To be Offered in Texas, Nevada and Oregon

Three new extension conferences dedicated to enhancing the RV lifestyle have been scheduled by the University of Idaho, Moscow, as part of its Enrich-ment Program. Students may now enroll in specialty classes at Southwest Texas State Univer-sity, San Marcos; Community College Southern Nevada, Las Vegas; and at Shemeketa Community College in Salem, OR. Classes for the 1998 Life on Wheels Conferences will be offered in San Marcos, Las Vegas and Salem on March 15-18, April 5-8 and August 16-19, respectively.

Students enrolling in the Life on Wheels extension conference programs will be able to select from a long list of college-style courses specializing in the RV lifestyle. Included in the curriculum are technical, travel and lifestyle enhancement courses that are designed to make life on the road more enjoyable, troublefree and secure. Students will be able to choose from a number of subjects, including courses on fulltiming, weight distribution, how to buy RVs, maintenance and repair, guns, snowbirding, computers, tires, communications and first-time RVing. The courses will be taught by industry experts who have published numerous articles on all aspects of the RV lifestyle, operate RV technical and research centers, and travel the seminar/lecture circuit. Enrollment is limited to 300 students at each campus.

The new conferences are part of the fast-growing Life on Wheels program sponsored by the University of Idaho Enrichment Program for Summer Pro-grams and Extended Learning. The first conference was held three years ago in Moscow. "I’m thrilled at how fast this RV-lifestyle program is growing. I recognized the need for this type of educational process for RV enthusiasts 10 years ago; at the rate we’re expanding, there’s real potential to have at least a dozen conferences in place in the near future. Our immediate goal is to provide strategically placed conferences so that RVers throughout the United States and Canada will have easy access," explained Gaylord Maxwell, a well-known industry spokesman and director of the Life on Wheels program.

These new programs will complement the main event, the third annual Life on Wheels Conference in Moscow, July 14-18, 1997, and the extension conference to be held at the Harris-burg Area Community College in Harrisburg, PA, September 7-10, 1997. The Moscow and Harris-burg conferences are filled. RVers who would like to enroll in any of the scheduled 1998 conferences are encouraged to register immediately. The Moscow and Harrisburg conferences were filled only a few months after the announced date.

Tuition for each conference is $150 per person; dry camping on each campus costs $25 for the duration of the event. Conference fees have been kept reasonable because members of the RV industry have pledged their financial support in an effort to enhance the RV lifestyle.
