This class of seven will be inducted at an industry
wide banquet and ceremony in Elkhart, IN on
August 1, 2005.
RV industry members of
the Hall of Fame class of 2005 are:
Don Boles, a pioneering RV manufacturer from
Boles Manufacturing (now out-of business), of
Burbank, CA.
As a pioneer manufacturer of Boles Arrow
trailers, he was active in the creation and building
of industry associations such as American
Institute of Travel Trailers, Trailer Coach
Association, and Mobile Home Manufacturers
Association. As a tool and die maker, he developed
many tools used in aluminum trailer fabrication.
He is a life-long promoter of quality construction
in trailer manufacturing.
Jerry Greer, an RV retailer from Jerry Greer
RV, of Sunbury, OH.
A 30 year RV veteran dealer, he is a long
time RVDA board member, serving as chairman
in 1990-92. He served on the board of RV
Assistance Corporation for nine years including
5 years as chairman. He served as RVDA
Education Foundation’s original chairman serving
for 7 years and was awarded the James B.
Summers award in 1995. Recognized for
advancing the interests of the RV industry and
RV retailers in particular.
Rick Horsey, an RV retailer from Parkview
RV Center, in Smyrna, DE.
He is a long time RVDA board member serving
as chairman in 1997-8. He is a 6 year
Chairman of the RVDA Education Foundation
and has served for 10 years on the RVDA-RVIA
Service Technician Certification Board and the
RV Service Training Council. He is a founding
member of the Go-RVing Committee on
Excellence. He was the driving force behind the
reorganization of the RVDA.
Tony Ingram, an RV manufacturer from Teton
Homes in Casper, WY.
A 35 year active RVIA member, he is recognized
as a strong supporter of the association
and its promotional “Go RVing” campaign. He
is a winner of the RVDA Quality circle award
representing retail dealer’s opinion of manufacturer
service. He holds the patent for design of
the oversized “big and tall” storage compartment
design in fifth wheel RVs.
Gary LaBella, an association executive from the
RVIA in Reston, VA.
A dynamic industry leader and spokesman,
he has for over 27 years been the architect of
many acclaimed marketing programs to promote
Rving and coalesce the RV industry. He spearheads the Go Rving campaign and all RVIA
Public relations campaigns. As an architect and
coordinator of industry marketing programs he
has received over 20 awards from various
national professional marketing and public relations
associations for innovative program
design.
Donald Pletcher, an RV manufacturer from
Damon Corporation in Elkhart, IN.
A long time industry leader as a supplier, RV
manufacturer, and housing manufacturer.
Serving as an RVIA board member and executive
committee member, he was the recipient of the
Distinguished Service to RV Industry Award in
1993, and the National Legislative Award in
1999. He has been a leader, spokesman and
example of the benefit of personal and corporate
integrity in the industry.
B. J. Thompson, a service firm executive from
BJ Thompson Associates in Mishawaka, IN.
A 20-year RVIA member and leader, he has
served for 18 years as its Public Relations
Committee Chairman. He is a founding member
of the highly successful Go-RVing Coalition, and
received the RVIA National Service Award in
1986. He has devised and led numerous
national RV promotional campaigns.
The RV/MH Heritage Foundation, based in
Elkhart, Indiana, was founded in 1972 and has
honored over 250 leaders of the RV and manufactured
housing industries by induction into
the RV/MH Hall of Fame. The foundation also
maintains a museum of historic industry products
dating back to 1913 and the world’s largest
collection of industry literature, magazines, and
photos. The archives are open to the public
from 9 to 5 Monday through Friday year around
and on Saturdays in the summer months of
June, July, and August.
