The Board of Directors of the
RV/MH Heritage Foundation has
announced the election of the
RV/MH Hall of Fame class of
2003. The new Hall of Fame
members to be inducted in a
national ceremony on Tuesday
August 5, 2003, in Elkhart,
Indiana, are:

BILL DAY, SR. of Day Mobile
Homes, a housing retailer from
Cheyenne, Wyoming.
A 35-year industry veteran, he is
the founder and first president of
the Wyoming MHA. A 35-year
industry leader, he has served
both the RV and manufactured
housing industry in both manufacturing
and retail sectors. He
is recognized as an industry
leader and example to others.
BRIAN FANNON of Sun
Communities, a housing community
operator from
Farmington Hills, Michigan.
A 35-year industry veteran, he is
a long time state association
member and leader, and was
instrumental in the creation of
Michigan manufactured housing
commission. He has served for
25 years as a member of various
MHI committees. His company
operates over 44,000 home sites
in 15 states and has twice been
recognized as national community
operator of the year.
WALTER K. HUGHES of
Fleetwood Enterprises, a housing
manufacturer based in
Rocky Mount, Virginia. He is
past president of the Virginia
MHA where he led the successful
campaign to allow multi-section
homes in Virginia, and is one of
the founders and first chairman
of the Commonwealth of Virginia
manufactured housing board.
He is recognized as having led
the establishment of a fair and
balanced regulatory program for
manufactured homes in Virginia.
ROBERT "BOOTS" INGRAM of
Teton Homes, an RV manufacturer
from Casper Wyoming. He
is a 20-year RVIA and RVDA
member and past board member.
He developed a rubber roof
installation procedure now an
industry standard, and was the
first to install an electric slideout
over 15 feet long. He developed
and built modular corrections
communities in Wyoming
and South Dakota. He is recognized
as a long time industry
innovator and association leader.
NEWTON KINDLUND of Holiday
RV Superstores, an RV retailer
from Orlando, Florida,
He is a Founding Board member
of both the Florida RVTA and the
RV Rental Association, and has
served on the national boards of
the RVIA and the RVDA. He
established one of the first RV
retail multi-store nation wide
operations and founded the
nation’s first publicly owned RV
dealership. In 1995 he was recognized
as RV industry executive
of the year. He is recognized as
a leading industry sales innovator
and association activist.
LARRY McCLAIN of McClain’s
RV Superstore, an RV retailer
from Lake Dallas, Texas and
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He
is a 32-year RVDA board member
and two-term president. He
was national dealer of the year in
1998 and received the James B.
Summers Award in 1993. He is
the founder of the Oklahoma
State RV show. He is recognized
as a local and national association
activist and leader.
KENNETH S. ROBERTS of
Triad Financial Services a manufactured
housing lender from
Eagan, Minnesota. A 40-year
leader in the financing of manufactured
housing, he was a
founder and director of numerous
industry finance institutions
and has introduced many modern
lending practices. He is recognized
as a life-long leader in
manufactured housing finance.
MAGGIE STEPHENSON of
Redbud Estates, a manufactured
housing community operator
and retailer from Anderson,
Indiana. A 20-year Indiana MHA
Board member and Past
President, she developed today’s
commonly used listing and purchase
agreements for pre-owned
homes patterned after realtor
documents. She is a 25-year
leader in the sale of land-home
packages. She is recognized as
an industry leader and association
activist.
GLORIA TELANDER of
Wheelers RV Campground
Directories, an industry publisher
from Elk Grove Village,
Illinois. She is a nearly 50 year
pioneer in the development of RV
campground directories. She
has been instrumental in the
development of every major
campground directory in the
industry. She developed a
campground rating system
where user clients, not in-house
sales personnel, rate campground
facilities. She is recognized
as a leader in RV consumer
services.
CHARLES W. UNDERWOOD of
Kentec, an industry supplier
from Snellville, Georgia. He is a
long time Georgia MHA Board
member and MHI board member
and MHI suppliers board of governors
member. He was a leader
and active lobbyist for 14 wide
home movement in Georgia. He
is recognized as an industry
political lobbyist and leader.
The RV/MH Hall of Fame,
founded in 1972, has recognized
nearly 250 leaders from all sections of the RV and manufactured
housing industries.
Honorees are selected by a committee
representing a broad
cross section of the related
industries, for their lasting contribution
to the greater good of
their specific division of the
industry, above and beyond personal
gain, from a pool of nominations
submitted by interested
groups or individuals.
The RV/MH Heritage Foundation,
based in Elkhart, IN,
serves to honor the history of the
combined industries with the
Hall of Fame, a museum of
antique units dating from 1913,
and the world’s largest library of
industry related publications,
photos, and archives.
