He urged attendees to look at our industry through 3D glasses. He said, "Look at yourselves and see more depth, more meaning and more beauty than you would with a traditional 2D view. We are very fortunate indeed to be a part of such an experience and must not lose sight of the objectives that have been established to keep RVing in the spotlight when the American consumer decides to spend their discretionary income in some aspect of the tourism industry.

"The key to all of this excitement is founded in industry unity -- a unity that has been difficult to achieve, will always be fragile and never to be taken for granted. This is an industry that did not pretend there were no problems and did not ignore them. An industry that is now enjoying the fruits of their labor to understand differences, resolve problems, and provide constructive ways to unite and grow the industry together."

Humphreys noted that the RV industry is the only industry where the manufacturers gave up their right to go to court over franchise agreements. He also pointed out that the RV industry did not have the problems now surfacing in the automobile industry. There is tremendous confusion and disagreement between automobile manufacturers and their dealer distribution system. The issue is: who's going to retail the product?

Again, Humphreys urged the industry not to lose its unity, get a good perspective, and look at the industry through 3-D glasses.

The Go RVing Committee on Excellence presented an in-depth review of various advertising milestones enjoyed by the industry that dated back to 1985. That was the year TNN introduced "Wish You Were Here", which enjoyed eight years of success. continued
