InnerVision Concepts, Computer Imageworks and Envision, three key players in the digital
printing industry, have joined forces to offer manufacturers of RVs and van conversions an
unusual and distinctive creation for use as headliners. Manufacturers can offer artistic
reproductions of art, graphics or photos to their customers, and customize the headliners to fit
the taste of the owner. The trio of companies offering the service started providing headliners to
limousine manufacturers last year.
It all started when James Armer, president, InnerVision Concepts, a new age advertising
company who specializes in large format digital printing, received a phone call from a New York
City designer. According to Armer, the designer called InnerVision's art director to print
Michelangelo's "The Creation of Adam", 48" wide by 177" long, for a headliner in a limousine. He
said, "This was the first prototype of it's kind and it was a smashing success. The limousine
company manufactures over 500 limousines a year with unique headliners in each one. It was a
natural fit for these entrepreneurial companies to come together. InnerVision Concepts
prototypes large format digital printing on a multitude of media. Computer Imageworks is a
production house of various digital outputs. Envision Associates is a reseller of high end digital
equipment."
When James Armer contacted RV News late last year, we thought the idea was intriguing, but had
trouble visualizing the end result. Armer offered to provide us with a sample, so we designed a
banner 4 ft. by 10 ft. to be used in our exhibit in Louisville. The turnaround time was less than a
week, and the banner accurately reproduced the covers of RV News magazine, RV Technician
magazine and the cover of an RV America brochure. The results were outstanding. The banner
was reproduced on canvas; however, Armer explained that he is able to create digitized graphics
on a variety of materials. The weight of the banner was less than five pounds.
Now these companies are bringing their creative ideas and computer expertise to the RV and van
conversion industries. Armer said, "Just imagine seeing a cluster of angels or a wall mural
collage of favorite photographs on the headliner of an RV. How about a canopy with a picture of
the family standing in the Grand Canyon. It might be interesting to see a subtle "watermark" type
graphic of a manufacturers logo on the ceiling of the RV?"
Armer went on to say, "In the past, custom designed pieces of these types were very expensive to
produce and required a lot of manual hours. With today's technology, we can quickly print any
type of image for pennies. We can produce from any photo, negative, slide, disk, Syquest, Zip
Drive or cd."
