Moving Air:

Progress Flows Smoothly at MaxxAir

By Bob Zagami, Editor

Moving air is their business.
Moving it better than anybody else is their reputation.

MaxxAir® has perfected the art of moving air and has evolved into the ventilation solutions experts in the RV industry. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, MaxxAir continues to improve their position as a market leader and have developed a product line that meets the needs of many RVers with innovation and excellent engineering.

This is no surprise when you consider that the company is lead by an engineer, Allen Thomas. When Don Magary last wrote about Thomas he referred to him as an engineer with an entrepreneurial aptitude. This unique blend of talent and creativity has served his company well in the RV industry.

MaxxAir was incorporated in January 1989, at a time when Thomas also ran another company, Solar Plastics, that specialized in contract plastic molding. Plastics played a major role in the success of both companies and placed challenging demands on his personal and business time as the companies grew. Early in 1997 he sold Solar Plastics and devoted his full attention to MaxxAir.

The company’s flagship product is still the MaxxAir louvered roof vent covers. This unique product installs over the industry-standard 14" X 14" roof vent and allows the vent to remain open, protecting the interior from rain damage. This system allows constant airflow through the RV to stop heat build-up and allows musty air, heat, smoke, and cooking odors to escape.

In 2001 the company introduced a Zero Leak Hardware Kit that was always packaged with the MaxxAir vent covers, but was now offered as a stand alone product.

Thomas notes, "This was a customer-driven product. They loved the MaxxAir vents so much, that when they sold their RV they took them with them for their new unit. So we developed this unique product that mounts to the vent side wall and does not require any holes in the roof of the RV."

The company also manufactures the Fan/Mate™, a rain cover designed for high powered ceiling fan/vents like Polar-Aire™, Fan-Tastic™, or Northern Breeze™. The Model 800 Fan/Mate completely encloses the fan/vent to prevent debris, leaves, and twigs from reaching the fan blades. The 12" diameter, screened and louvered opening is designed to allow high volume air flow for continuous fresh air in the RV whether the sun is shining or it’s pouring rain outside. A less expensive unit, the Model 400, provides rain protection but does not include the screen or louvers featured on the Model 800.
