In the 50's the company expanded again and began to sell travel trailers that were just becoming a popular means of travel for many people. Back then they sold Shasta, Jayco and Airstream travel trailers; Spartan mobile homes; and Winnebago and Lifetime motorhomes

In the 60's Foland's began to manufacture a line of truck caps which were assembled at their North Midler Avenue location.

Along with this business came a requirement for spare parts and accessories so the next logical move was parts and accessories, which they also started to use internally and distribute to others. This business proved to be lucrative and the company made the decision to stop selling trailers and began to specialize in the after market business opportunities that were beginning to emerge in the RV industry.

Foland 2

It's a family affair - Charlie, Jayson and Brent Foland

Charlie Foland, general manager, said, "If the company was going to grow, they had to get out of selling RVs so that they could pay attention to the distribution business."

The first two major lines acquired by Foland were Reese hitch products and A&E awning systems, along with many other manufacturers. Today the Folands represents most companies that market their products through distributors.

It was during the 70's that Charlie Foland (Chuck's son) was brought into the business, working there when he was not attending high school. He joined the company for full-time employment in 1980 and was the first of the third generation family members to continue the strong tradition of customer service and success that had been passed on to them by Chuck and Gene Foland. The other two members of the family are Brent, who joined the company in the mid-80's and Jayson, who came on board in 1993. Brent and Jayson are Gene's sons.

Although Gene is still the CEO and controller of the company, the day-to-day operations have been turned over to this third generation trio, and they have proven worthy of the responsibility and have established their own reputation in the industry.

Responsibilities are evenly split among the new generation leaders. Charlie functions as the general manager and is also responsible for purchasing. Brent oversees the mobile home park and is an experienced service technician. Jason is the sales professional who has established a direct link with Folands customers. Jayson is usually on the road three days a week, nine months out of the year. Respecting the dealers primary selling season, they do not make sales calls during June, July and August, at which time Jayson helps out with the increased business load back home in Syracuse.
