RV Industry Vision Released

Each of the major RV-related associations and many individual companies have looked at the RV business and developed a view of that future. A vision represents the desired future state of an organization or industry and is written as if it had actually come true.

RVDA, RVIA, ARVC, WDA, and state RV associations have now developed a common vision for the RV industry (see below). Work on the RV Industry Vision began in August, 1998 in Elkhart, IN, and the vision was refined and finalized at a meeting on January 6 in Orlando, FL. Each of the industry segments has agreed to work on action plans to achieve this vision. RVDA, RVIA, ARVC, and WDA were expected to meet in Washington D.C. on February 1 to discuss issues that the industry must act upon jointly. The group is scheduled to meet again sometime in the spring as the RV Industry Steering Group to finalize actions and set priorities.

RV Industry Vision - January 1999

The RV industry now serves the largest and most diverse population of RV users in history, including new and used unit owners as well as rental customers. More than 20% of the U.S. vehicle owning households now own RVs.

The industry has achieved this growth by working together to build trust and by understanding and supporting the needs of all segments. In fulfilling the shared industry vision of providing ultimate customer satisfaction, all segments have achieved long term profitability, as growth and success are the rewards of excellence!

As a result of an effective implementation of a shared vision, each industry segment has taken responsibility for its goods and services. They are interdependent yet unified, and as a result, the industry attracts, retains, and develops qualified individuals who make the industry their career choice.

All segments have adopted the culture of quality, excellence, and value in the delivery of a total quality experience for the consumer. Understanding and responding to the needs of the consumer has enabled us to deliver products and services that so delight the consumer that he has become an advocate of the lifestyle which has led to continued growth.

Our unified industry has become a strong force in assuring access to public lands, in the development of highways to reduce congestion, and in facilitating the expansion of the RV lifestyle through partnering with aligned industries. By partnering with entities outside of the RV industry, we have broadened the appeal of the RV lifestyle, including former owners, through increased value of the consumers' experience.

The industry has limited government intervention by responding quickly and decisively to external influences that impact the health of the industry. The industry uses technology to improve product quality and consumer satisfaction.

Ultimate customer satisfaction has been achieved by providing an excellent experience in the sale of and the servicing of RVs. Accommodations for RVers exceed their expectations and are readily available. All components designed and built to satisfy the requirements of RV owners are readily available at affordable prices.

Through effective promotion and consumer awareness, the unified industry has positioned itself to continue the growth and success it has achieved. This success has been achieved and its future guaranteed through the industry's commitment to an on-going, all-inclusive strategic process.
