Governor goes ‘camping’ with MARVAC

MARVAC hosted Governor Jennifer M. Granholm recently at Van Buren State Park near South Haven, MI at the “Governor’s Campout 2004.” The governor went ‘camping’ as part of her 2004 tourism media tour, which began the week of June 6. Last year’s tour generated over $400,000 in media exposure just as the all-important summer travel season was heating up. The theme of the 2004 media tour was “Hidden Treasures” and MARVAC emphasized the “treasures” found in traveling in an RV throughout Michigan.

Governor Granholm spent several hours touring recreation vehicles that were put on display by a number of MARVAC member dealers and manufacturers. The Governor finished her visit with a cookout and picture taking session at the campground.

MARVAC members who participated included Blue Star RV & Marine Supply, Ewing RV, Fleetwood RV, General RV Centers, Holland Motor Homes, Palomino RV and Viking RV. A special thanks to the helpful volunteers from the Michigan Chapter of Family Campers and RVers.
