Meyer’s Campers Expand Again
Commands over 50% of each market they serve
Mark Meyer started working at the family’s first dealership in
Caledonia, New York when he was just six years old. Living
upstairs from the original store his Dad founded, "We just
got out of bed and went down stairs to work."
The company was doing about a million dollars in 1983 when
Mark became involved in the management side of the business.
This year, under his leadership, the company will do almost one
hundred million.
Meyers’ philosophy can also work for your dealership.

It’s All About Attitude:
Go Fish! for it!
Would you go to a fish
market in Seattle,
Washington to learn
how to sell more RVs? You
would if you wanted to see first
hand what the people at Pike
Place Fish Market have done
with a real simple philosophy:
have fun.
The now well-documented
FISH! Philosophy, results in a
workplace where the quality of
life is satisfying and meaningful,
and the experience for customers
is compelling.
Four of the principles that
make up the FISH! Philosophy
are well documented:
Play
Make Their Day
Be There
Choose Your Attitude
Sounds real simple, right?
If it is, then why do we
have so many miserable people
out there, including business
owners and sales people.
So, let’s all go FISH!ing and
see what it can do for you.

RV Industry Heritage
Pete Callander: Thinking
outside the box
In 1936, 21 year old Pete Callendar
decided to open a campground and
start an RV dealership at his gas
station in South Bend, Indiana. This was
the beginning of Southside Trailer Sales and
a long term love affair with the RV industry.
Callendar was instrumental in building
many of the early industry associations, and
he was involved with approval for our industry’s
ANSI 119.1 standards as well as helping
with the establishment of the MMHA
show in Louisville - the beginning of today’s
National RV Trade Show, still held in
Kentucky. He was a developer of the
Midwest Show in Elkhart, which is now the
popular South Bend show, and was a promoter of national service
schools.
