Duo-Therm’s new Cool Cat heat pump is the first in the industry specifically designed for fold-down camping trailers, van campers, lighter weight travel trailers and fifth-wheels. It will provide heating for the unit when temperatures dip down to the mid 30s and cooling comfort for those hot summer days.

Made by The Dometic Corp., the Cool Cat is designed to be installed into a cabinet, freeing up the camper roof for canoes, bikes, etc., making it easier to park trailers in a garage. It also eliminates the design challenges associated with weight bearing, lift systems and wiring requirements.

Weighing just 70 lbs., Cool Cat provides 12,000 BTUs of cooling and between 12,012 and 9,682 BTUs of heating depending upon the outdoor ambient temperature. Cool Cat features all-electric operation and is thermostatically-controlled. The blower can be set for automatic or manual operation in both heating and cooling modes. The heat pump occupies a space measuring approximately 22" wide x 14-1/2" high x 20-1/2" deep and is designed to be installed from the outside.

Cooling and heating distribution are available through the front grill of the Cool Cat or through a 4" ducting to remote areas of the vehicle. The front discharge/return air grill is medium tan molded high-impact vinyl with three swivel-type outlets to provide directional air flow. It comes complete with a washable, reusable air filter.

The heat pump functions best when placed in an interior space which is one undivided space and positioned in the middle of a floor plan.
