Which RV has an average purchase price of $32,512 and 99%
of the people buying this product will recommend the lifestyle
to their friends and neighbors? It’s the RPT! RPTs provide
their owners with the best of both worlds. You get an inexpensive
cottage on location at a campground or RV resort, and eliminate
the need to transport and store the trailer at home. RPTs are the
embodiment of destination camping. You put it somewhere, and
it’s always there, whenever you want to use it … just hop in the
car or truck and head for your little cabin in the woods, or by the
lake, or at the resort, or located in one of the pricey communities
that like to cut down trees and build tall buildings, and call them
condominiums. The statistics on RPT owners are quite enlightening
and showcase why these units are so popular. The only question
mark is why they are not even more popular.
Ten years ... ten questions.
A discussion with Bill Garpow,
Executive Director of the RPTIA.
RPTIA will celebrate their tenth anniversary later this year.
This issue focuses on the challenges and opportunities for
this unique RV and we asked the association’s Executive
Director to reflect back on the last last ten years and give us some
insight into the future of RPTIA. Bill Garpow answers ten questions
to celebrate their ten years.
Why aren’t you selling
RPTs?
If somebody offered you a stock tip on a "sure thing" that
was going to significantly increase in value, would you
invest your money on the stock? What if somebody told
you that one of the best kept secrets in the RV industry was something
called a Recreational Park Trailer and you could make a lot
of money selling these units, increase market penetration, and be
in on the secret before others found out about it? Well, the cat’s
out of the bag and everyone is reading about it at the same time.
However, as we all know, the RV industry doesn’t move that quickly
and you can still get in on the action before others are willing to
make the investment, understand the potential, and add RPTs to
their dealer inventory. What are you waiting for?
